AN elderly man was reportedly pushed to the floor before having cash and a wallet stolen in Southend.

Officers were called to Southchurch Avenue, outside Tesco Express at around 10.50am this morning, following reports of a man being robbed at a cash point.

Witnesses reported seeing an elderly victim pushed to the floor before having cash and a wallet stolen.

The suspect then ran towards York Road. 

The victim was assisted by members of the public at the scene, however, he left before officers arrived at the scene around 15 minutes after the robbery was reported. 

Police are now looking for the public’s help to identify the victim.

He is described as a white man, in his 60s of a slim build and with grey hair.

The victim was wearing glasses and a camo jacket. 

Sergeant Stephen Wells from Southend Town Centre said “We are carrying out enquiries within the area to progress this investigation and we need to identify the victim to make sure he is okay. 

“The suspect is described as a white man in his early 30s, wearing grey jeans and a black puffer coat with the hood up as well as black trainers.

"Officers are reviewing CCTV of the area to identify the suspect as well as the victim. 

“If you know who the victim is or have any information which could assist us, please contact us quoting incident 384 of April 28.”
